From Berghaus Gumen (1901 m), follow the marked path northeast across the Schrofenhang to the paragliding launch on the Gumengrat, then continue along the fence line past a few easy rock steps to the via ferrata start at about 2120 m.

Section 1 climbs the rocky base of the Leiteregg, following the ridge through a short iron-runged chimney, a traverse above a gap, and a steep corner to reach the Leitereggstock (2319 m). Section 2 continues along the ridge with an almost vertical ladder to a horizontal ledge, then a steep chimney leading to Vorder Eggstock (2449 m). The route crosses the 16-metre Charlotte suspension bridge above a gap, then follows cable-protected rock and ridge terrain to the broad summit meadow of Mittler Eggstock (2420 m) with its small shelter hut.

From Mittler Eggstock, descend steeply over rock, scree and grass (loose stones underfoot) to a rocky cliff negotiated via a wobbly cable ladder past an overhang, exiting near Tschingel (2120 m). From there, descend diagonally east to join the main footpath back to the Gumen chairlift station.
