From the top station of the Eggishorn cable car, a wide, easy path (used as a ski piste in winter) leads comfortably to the start of the via ferrata.

The route heads gently downhill and east across the grassy, rocky southeast flank of the Fiescherhorli before the first cables begin. It soon reaches a swaying 20-metre suspension bridge, followed by the exposed 'Snowfield Traverse' and a short climb to a roughly 40-metre three-cable bridge, which can be bypassed by those uneasy with exposure. From 'Gemstritt', the path continues to the base of the 'wall creeper slabs' (with an escape option near 2700 m), then climbs steeply up a long line of iron rungs. An airy traverse and minor undulations lead to the small towers of the 'Adlerspitz', followed by a final short suspension bridge and a scree climb up to the cable car station at 2869 m.
