The via ferrata on Piz Mitgel, the northernmost of the Bergüner Stöcke, climbs a 350-metre south-west face on the way to a 3159-metre summit, combining sustained ferrata climbing with genuine alpine terrain. Built in 2005 by a local hotelier and mountain guide, it follows a logical line up the wall with no lift access, demanding good fitness and stamina for the full day out. Expansive views over the Graubünden peaks and deep green valleys reward those who complete it, though the route remains serious and exposed throughout.

From Savognin, reach the Plang la Curvanera car park (1844 m) either on foot via Nassegl (680 m of ascent, about 2 hours) or by car/bike along a narrow paved then gravel road 6 km from the village; a shuttle bus is also available. From the car park, follow the closed alp road toward Nassegl, branching left before reaching the alp itself, then climb the white-blue-white marked trail to the junction where the Senda diagonala and Senda verticale separate. Turn right here for the Senda diagonala or left for the Senda verticale.
From the path junction, go right to the base of a slanting rock band crossing the whole south-west flank of Piz Mitgel; follow this scree-covered band over slabs into a couloir where the secured Senda diagonala begins near 2550 m. The cables lead north-northwest beneath the cliffs to an exit around 2740 m, just east of the Piramida summit cairn (P. 2752). From there, cross a scree basin northeast to touch the West Ridge, then climb the upper scree slope, bearing right (southwest) beneath the summit rocks to approach from the south. The final Senda finala cables run up the west side of the north ridge before curving around to reach the summit of Piz Mitgel (3159 m) from the south.
Descend via the Senda diagonala, retracing the secured band back down to its start near 2550 m before continuing on the scree and rock terrain to the junction above Nassegl. From there, follow the alp road back down to Plang la Curvanera, or continue on foot to Savognin.
