Route description Section 3 is the culminating and hardest branch of the three-part Via Farinetta in the Gorges de la Salentse, rated K6- and ranking among Switzerland's toughest via ferratas. It splits off below the exit of Section 2 and demands strength, nerve, and commitment, with widely spaced rungs and body-out overhangs. Retreat is essentially impossible once committed, so it should only be attempted by those confident in their ability after the first two sections.

From the bridge bus stop (483 m) between Saillon and Leytron, cross the Salentse stream and follow tracks up the right bank into the gorge. Cross back over the stream on a wooden bridge past the old bath ruins to reach the Farinet memorial plaque and information board on the right wall (approx. 540 m), the starting point of the ferrata.

Branching right below the Section 2 exit, Section 3 opens with a rightward traverse crossing two bridges. A dizzying, sustained climb follows to a severely overhanging section where maintaining footing is difficult. After a brief rest, further overhanging ground leads up to the canyon rim at roughly 860 m. Retreat is not a realistic option once this section is begun.

From the exit at about 860 m, take the partly secured path down to the Passerelle à Farinet suspension bridge (817 m, built 2001). From there, choose among three onward routes: a 50-minute vineyard trail west to Saillon, a 15-minute road link via Les Places to its bus stop, or a 20-minute trail via Les Places down to Montagnon.
