Approach + via ferrata + descent
This K4+ via ferrata climbs the wooded, west-facing flank of the Oldenhorn near Col du Pillon, offering a sporty 450 m route with frequent traverses and rock contact rather than pure iron. An optional harder opening section (K5-) can be bypassed, while the final stretch offers a thrilling 80 m zip-line past the Dar waterfall if installed. The route stays shady in the morning and links neatly with the nearby Pierredar and Tête aux Chamois ferratas on the same mountain.

From Col du Pillon (1546 m), walk west along the road toward Les Diablerets before branching left. Drop slightly on the path to about 1480 m, then contour left (SSE) across grassy slopes toward the forested NW-facing cliffs, reaching the ferrata's start near 1500 m.
Climbers can skip the steep opening by veering left; otherwise the route begins with vertical and overhanging climbing leading to a tricky three-cable bridge exit, then continues up the rock face where the easier variant rejoins. A grassy ledge crosses the wall beneath a striking semicircular roof toward a 'hanging garden' of old spruces, followed by an airy ladder descent into a groove with an escape option. Beyond this, the terrain eases, following ledges across a long, popular climbing wall, crossing a short bridge and squeezing through a narrow corner. At the base, choose between the optional 80 m zip-line toward the waterfall (if rigged) or a bypass right of the stream through steep, bushy ground to rejoin the path at 1460 m.
From the ferrata's end, either return via footpath to Col du Pillon, or continue down the path toward Les Diablerets, following the stream west into the valley to reach the train station at 1155 m (about 1½ hrs).
